Palisade House is a restored downtown-adjacent house museum with a kitchen garden and a docent who will tell you which floorboard squeaks on purpose. James Whitcomb fought to keep the wallpaper ugly and accurate. School tours hit the garden first. Weekends are couples who like porches more than malls.
